In a recently posted article by Science Careers, the careers component of the journal Science, ACUMEN was cited in relation to alternative research metrics. The article described the growing recognition of alternative ways of measuring researcher performance, especially in the domain of web impact.

The shortcomings of traditional performance measures in addition to the growing availability of web-based indicators have created a shift in evaluation practices. In the evaluation of researcher performance, citation metric tools are increasingly being complemented by webometric tools. ACUMEN was cited as part of this trend. Also mentioned in the article was ACUMEN researcher Mike Thelwall, who provided some background on this development.
