Dr. Andrea Scharnhorst is a Senior Research Fellow at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (Data Archives and Networked Services and e-humanities group). Her areas of expertise cover information sciences, scientometrics, innovation studies, physics of complex systems, and science and technology studies. Her work can be placed at the interface between physics, social sciences and humanities. Dr. Scharnhorst has developed a specific framework (GOE_THE, which stands for Geometrically Oriented Evolutionary THEories) to describe processes of problem solving and learning as an evolutionary search process in unknown knowledge landscapes.
