Judit Bar-Ilan

Prof. Judit Bar-Ilan is head of department and associate professor at the Department of Information Science of Bar-Ilan University. She received her PhD in computer science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and started her research in information science in the mid-1990s. Her areas of interest include: information retrieval, informetrics, Internet research, information behavior and usability. She has published extensively in webometrics and bibliometrics, and carried out both qualitative and quantitative studies on the Web. She is an editorial board member of several major information science journals and serves and served as a program committee member on major information science and web science conferences. She is also a member of the board of ISSI, the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics. She is program co- chair of the 13th International Conference on Scientometrics and Informetrics to be held in 2011. Prof. Bar-Ilan will head the team of researchers at Bar-Ilan working on the project. Her expertise in link and blog analysis, in information retrieval using Web search engines, and in bibliometric indicators will contribute to the success of the project.
